We just brought home our 2 hens and cockerel. We are hoping no have a good run with these egg laying hens. It is our first time and my daughters are soooo excited.

Welcome to BYC - your chickens would be better protected from predators if you swapped out the flimsy chicken wire and used 1/2" hardware cloth instead and used more wooden posts along the way to support it. Chicken wire will only keep chickens in, it will not repel dogs, raccoons, fox etc. It is easily torn, pushed away from posts and ground, and tends to sag.
