Me and my daughter started getting chickens after my husband left us. I have to say I like them more...lol I hatch my own babies and keep them in the house. This winter I lost power for over a week during the ice storm and to keep most of them alive, instead of going to my parents house that had power, I stayed at home (freezing) and huddled up with a blanket on the couch to keep them warm. I lost some of them but most lived. I have got to tell you they all have names, and for most part, they know them when I call them. I was in the hospital for a few days and when I came home, they was so happy to see me, I had some of my men( as I call them) fly on my shoulders. At night fall they come to the door.... its so cute. Chickens are suppose to be stupid, but I swear mine are smarter then most people. I just love them. With that said, I do have some that I need to get rid of, not all of them are my babies. I live in Mena and need to know where some of the nearest auctions are. If you can help, please let me know. I don't like to go to far away because it will just be me and my daughter. Thanks
and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have had some adventures with your chicks during the ice storm trying to keep them warm, amazing you got most of them through. Chickens are amazingly smart, sounds like some of yours really are attached to you. If you are looking for local auctions you might want to post on or check out your state thread for the best chance of reaching people local to you
