Hi!

I'm a newbie in the chicken world=D I have gotten a LOT of information off of BYC and I finally became a member!!! I just got 8 dixie rainbow chicks that are only a week old

. I can't wait for them to get older and start laying eggs!!!

I love chickens!!!!!!!

Dixie Rainbows are also known as Pioneer chickens.

I don't think that Rainbows (Or pioneers

) are that popular but here's a link ( https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/pioneer.html ) with a description about them...The only place I find information about them is on hatchery websites that sell them!!

Cool!!  All I know about Rainbows (Also known as Pioneer chickens) is that they are dual purpose, apparently they lay HUGE brown eggs, about 280-300 eggs a year, and are a hybrid breed. I guess I won't know about their egg rate though until September...I can't wait!!!

I read that they lay a lot of huge and double yolk eggs, so that is exciting!
