Hi Everyone!

I'm completely new to raising chicks. Today I purchased 6! An araucana, 2 barred rocks, a buff orpington, a buff brahma, and a white silkie.
Is there anything special I should know at this point? Right now they are all inside my home under a heat lamp in a large tub.

glad you have joined us and congrats on your new baby chicks.

Watch for pasty butts, they are more common than we would think, the stress of being move is is the likely cause. Treatment is simple, and there are articles and forums to help. So check those bums twice a day and be ready just in case.

Moving the light up weekly to lower the heat - review the Learning Center Article on Raising baby chicks for details.

Be prepared to raise the water fount and feeder as they grow to keep poop out of those - placing a tile, small piece of wood works.

Have fun, they start to feather at about a week and grow really fast.

Feel free to ask questions - forum on raising baby chicks is the best place for that.
