(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had a couple of Pekin Bantams join my family about 10yrs ago when I lived in the suburbs. I absolutely adored them and their tiny eggs.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Now we have moved to a small 10 hectare farm, I have more room
I now have 9 chickens, including a very gentle rooster. I also have 5 new chicks that hatched in my incubator last Thursday.
(3) What breeds do you have? Araucanas (lavender), Orpingtons (blue, splash & buff), French Marans (Wheaten, and project colours)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love chickens and their quirks, I love having fresh eggs and I love breeding and hatching chicks
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love gardening, growing vegetables and fruit, breeding and milking our dairy goats (Nigerian Dwarf & Anglo Nubian) and Jersey cows, making cheese and gelato, hanging out with my horses.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a 5yo daughter who adores our chickens and an 8yo son who prefers our ducks and ducklings. My wonderful husband helps me care for our zoo and the farm.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve known about BYC for years as it often came up in my searches but I joined now as I am breeding now and want to be able to share with other people who love chickens
