(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We got our first 10 Rhode Island Red chicks two years ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

13 hens and 1 rooster

(3) What breeds do you have?

Rhode Island Reds and Black Australorp chickens

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

*Havings eggs from chickens raised with love and care
*Hearing their happy clucks all day long
*Having happy hens greet me at the gate when my car pulls up

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Homeschooling my three fabulous children, attempting to live a partial Farm Life after being raised in the city, and loving my savior Christ and his creation

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We have no other pets besides our fabulous 14 chickens, I'm a stay-at-home mama with a hard-working construction husband, and we do our best to live power lives as naturally and fruitfully as possible

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found out about backyard chickens from Googling every possible condition I thought my chickens ever had, and finally decided to join when Google failed me and I craved discussions with real people :)

I have had them 5 years
I have 6: 1 isa red, 1 barred rock, 2 buff orp and 2 barnavelder
They bring me and my family much joy as well as eggs. The neighbors love em.
Hunting, fishing, camping, gardening ( flower and veggies and berries), home canning, sowing.I work as a Medical Assistant.
I found BYC 4 years ago but never became a member till this year. Wish I did sooner.
I live with my son and mother, I have 2 cats and 1 cockatiel
