Hi I'm a first time poster here, so bear with me please, I'm looking to find out if there's anyone, or any events in erfurt Germany where I spend time, or people that could give me some advice on getting started with the chickens, I've had some before, but I used to find it difficult with how quickly the grass was killed off etc, as I kept them in a coop with an open bottom to grass, any tips and tricks would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to BYC!!:woot I suggest buying or building a chicken tractor so that you can move it around so the chickens can have access to fresh greens at all times, there are lots of chicken tractor tutorials on YouTube, and on here as well!:D Hope this helps☺️

If you're looking to start keeping chickens again, you can connect with other chicken raisers and get advice at farmers' markets or agricultural events in Erfurt. In Germany, there are also online clubs devoted to poultry, where participants share tips and experiences and sometimes organize gatherings.

When it comes to managing the grass, a moveable coop could be a solution. You could rotate the chickens' grazing areas, giving the grass a chance to recover and preventing them from wearing it down in one spot. If you're sticking to a stationary coop, the deep litter method might work well for you—it keeps things fresh and gives the chickens a place to scratch around. You could also plant some extra greens or herbs like clover or dandelion, which chickens enjoy and can benefit from.

Thank you so much, there's so much useful information here, I'll have to re read it and take notes, I guess when it comes to chickens, there's always something new to learn for sure.🌻🌻👍🏼☺️
