I was given 4 birds last night. The giver thought it was 3 hens and a rooster, but I am thinking (after looking online and see 2 chickens trying to mate with 2 hens) it is actually 2 roosters! They were brought to me unexpectedly last night in a dog kennel that had been their coop w/ a nest basket. I am building them a coop today with nest boxes and perches. They are currently enjoying scratching around my barn-in-progress. We had no idea they were coming yet...we thought we had at least until the barn was done...as the coop is going to be in the barn. I have no idea what kind they are!! One looks like it could be a Buff Orpington Rooster, the other rooster looks like he could be a left over egg from the other rooster and one of the hens that is speckled! He has a speckled body, buff head, and a pretty green tail! He is really cool looking!! Here is a link to my blog (also new) that has pictures of them

Hello and welcome to the madness.
I am sure you will find that not only are the chickens habit forming but so is BYC.

Hi Sarah- We are neighbors - I live in Conroe. Check the Where I Am Where are Texas Thread - there are over 300 Texans on this board. They are even planning a "Chickenstock" a big get together in San Marcos for Memorial Day weekend for everyone to meet, eat and exchange chickens and stuff. Welcome aboard.
