I just wanted to say "hello" and introduce myself briefly.
I'm new to raising chickens. I have a new flock of 24-day old blue, black, and splash straight run Ameraucanas (not Easter eggers) in Austin, Texas. They currently live in a large cardboard box in my living room while I finish work on predator-proofing their new coop. I bought the fewest number of chicks the farm would ship, so I am the proud mama of 25 of these beautiful babies.
At the moment, what is stumping me most is how to make the corrugated metal roofs on the brooder and roost safe. I saw a thread on this list about that topic, which is what prompted me to join, though I've been reading the site for weeks now.
I can't tell you how much I have learned from this site. Thanks!
Below are pictures of the coop (taken a few weeks ago).
