Hi I’m Roxanne and I’m very new to backyard chickens (both the activity and this site!). Also relatively new to Austin, moved here about 1.5yr ago.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to chickens, started considering them once we bought our house.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None, still researching, but my plan is to have 4
(3) What breeds do you have?
None, but hoping for Barred Rock and Buff Orpington
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Not sure just yet, but probably eggs, interacting with the chickens and seeing their personalities.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like several slow, complicated hobbies lol, like baking sourdough bread, printmaking, and ceramics
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my partner and our 12yo cat. I work in UX research at a tech company yet I avoid tech in my daily life
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
From researching everything about chickens! I realized joining might be more helpful than stalking 10yo posts
