Hi from Cali Desert!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from the high desert in California. I live in a big house full of people with a yard full of chickens and dogs. I'm currently in grad school for my MLIS degree and I am recently married (almost a year now!). My dad and I relied on this forum a lot when we first got our hens and built our coop (a little over a year ago), but I never got around to making an account. Hopefully I'll get a ton more information and make some good friends. Thanks so much and HI!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Be very careful with your dog around the chickens as dogs and chickens typically don't mix well. We get lots of letters from new members who are shocked and horrified because their seemingly benign dog (even small ones like chihuahuas) suddenly and unexpectedly decided to chase and kill their chickens. And once a dog has killed a chicken, it's next to impossible to break them from doing it again. Dogs seem to either view chickens as prey, or else as chew toys.
