Hey everyone! I've been using these forums for a few years now to help me out with my chickens and totally love it! My husband and I are raising our 3 kids (ages 7, 3 and 1) on his families tree farm in central MN. We're homeschooling the kids and have been working on restoring my husband's great-grandparent's house for the last 4 years. One of our big passions is permaculture and finally after living here for so long we'll be starting our own garden!

We've been raising chickens in the various places we've lived (AZ, HI & MN) for about 7 years now. I love keeping chickens and don't know how I ever lived without them before. We have a flock of about 30 birds, I think.

Currently we're keeping delawares, speckled sussex, ameraucanas, faverolles, buff orpingtons, silver laced wyandottes and 4 random bantams that were given to me by a friend. We're planning to cut out the sussex and delawares this coming year. I like them, but both breeds seem to be big on egg eating for some reason (where my other breeds never have). I think the sussex do it because they are bored but the delawares seem to do it out of per-pressure or something. I'm just not impressed.

I'm hoping to add white orpingtons and some bantam cochins to the list this year and we're also getting 15 Cayuga ducklings this year to help us out in the garden.

I LOVE learning about raising livestock/farm animals in sustainable ways and research it a lot. I hope someday to have more then just chickens and ducks.
