I'm completely new to raising my own little backyard egg layers :)

I have 5 Golden Comets that are between five and six weeks old & 1 black bearded Silkie and 1 porcelain (I think) Sizzle (I think) that were both hatched on 3/12/2014. I'm hoping to get 2 golden laced wyndottes at the end of this month.

Welcome to the flock!

What kind do you have? I was hoping to have the coop done for the big girls today... But alas, they are gunna be in the spare bedroom (in a puppy playpen!) for another week. The little ones have been in a 25 gallon pasture water tank until yesterday when I put them together with the Comets.

Enjoy your new babies! If you have any questions, that is what we are here for. Welcome to our flock!

Mine are probably Rhode Island Reds. Not positive, I just got them at the feed store. They could be mongrels for all I know. We've been trying to weigh them every day and track their growth. It's fun and amazing. We had one chick gain 4 oz in a single day! My son has all of the materials for our coop, but ours are also still in the spare bedroom. in a kennel.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you are putting together a nice little flock. It will be interesting to see the differences in weight gain.
