Hello from Colorado!
My friend forwarded me a link on this sight and I just had to join!!!
I am new to chickens and turkeys just this year.
I have 2 Rhode Island Red hens (Reba and Ashley), 2 Barred Rock hens (Lita and Joan), 1 Buff Orfington (Ramona) , 1 White Leghorn (Spaz) and 1, what I was told was a Mini Turkey, I named her Clarabelle. I have also been given an older White Silky Rooster we call Slick.

My hens are laying like crazy and I am thrilled with them...however, I truely LOVE my turkey Clara. Clara has decided that I am "her" person. She follows me around, stands on the deck and looks inside and hollers for me. When I am outside, she lays on my feet and follow me like a dog. I love this bird!

I am curious if anyone knows about turkey noises. When I pet Clara, she loves to be pet on her head and likes to have her chest pet. When I pet her, she will lay down and make this noise in her throat area, like a purr...I am very curious to know if anyone knows what that noise is!!! She starts making it, closes her eyes and kind nods off!

I am anxious to learn all I can here and maybe be able to share the little bits I know!

Welcome from Alaska, my cousins grew up in Arvada and Englewood:) I left Alaska for a short time years ago to live in Twin Lakes, 22 miles from Leadville. Haven't tried turkey yet, just raising ducks, geese and chickens so far.
