Hey, I'm Lyndsay from North East CT and completely new to chickens. In January, my boyfriend and I decided to move from renting an apartment to renting a house, with very easygoing do whatever landlords, who agreed that it was OK to have chickens, and even requested eggs! So, I did a bunch of research on breeds and hatcheries, and bought 6 from MPC. I wanted mostly cold-hardy and docile birds, but timing was also important, as I would be laid up after knee surgery in March, and wanted something to do during my last weeks of recovery, so we needed to get them early April. In doing so, we had to expand the types we were looking at because we didn't want the same breed. Thus, we ended up with a Dominque, Light brown Leghorn, Golden Campine, SLW, Buff Orp, and Partridge rock. So far I am loving them, and ended up joining the forum because no matter how much research you do, you still have questions. So I'm glad I joined and I'm glad we got our chicks. Though, no where near ready for them, as the snow took forever to melt this year, so hopefully our brooder will be done tomorrow, and it should last them a few weeks until we can get the coop done.

Very excited about this adventure!
