I have a problem with my leghorns, and have been reading the advice on the forum about feather plucking,

the answer, I know would be to let them free range, but as my neighbours whole flock was devastated by a fox I am reluctant, I do let them out of the run for a few hours most nights after I return from work, but this is obviously not enough

Any other advice welcome

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

You could try some "environmental enrichment" - hanging treat balls, foods that take longer to eat like carrots and sweet potatoes, watermelon rinds, etc. . And as much outdoor time as possible. How much space do you have for your birds? Also, do you think you may have 1 or 2 culprets? If so, separating them or removing them permanently may help.

Not able to help with the answer but you've come to the right place and sounds like you've already gotten some good suggestions of things to try. Hope you are able to resolve things soon. Welcome to BYC!
