I am from HARRAH, Ok, and my husband surprised me with some baby ducklings today, and I have had them before, but wasn't successful at keeping them alive. I want to be successful this time, so any advice is very helpful and appreciated

Hi and welcome to BYC - great that you have joined us. The Duck forum is likely to be the best place to get advice - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

x2 on the Learning Center, lots of good articles there to get you off on the right foot. And you're always welcome to ask questions, there are a lot of helpful, knowledgeable members here.

Make yourself at home!

My ducklings are less than a week old. Should I let them outside during the day when the weather is nice to let them exercise?

Sorry I don't know much about ducklings . I do think one week old is too young to frolic outside. Please do post your questions on the ' duck thread,'

Just put that in the search box and it will pop up for you. I do know ducklings can have problems especially with legs, etc. IF they are lacking enough niacin. I don't know what your previous ones died of, but, that may have been the reason.

I did find the duck thread and posted there. Thanks so much for ur help. I'm now at this still trying to figure things out

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some great starting points, I will just wish you and your ducklings all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
