Hi all,
I live in Honolulu, Hawaii and I currently have a flock of 20 layer chickens. 14 are just starting to lay (got the first egg yesterday) and 6 are about four years old which I have had from chicks. They are all Rhode Island Red/ Leghorn crosses. I feed them organic layer feed and organic cracked corn as well as veggie scraps from the produce section of a local health food store. They get to do a little free-ranging in the late afternoon when I can keep an eye on them (The neighbors have a dog that killed a few hens a year back when I used to let them free range all the time). I live on a small farm and we don't have any fencing between properties. Don't have to worry about the cold here with the hens, which is nice.
