Hi From Idaho

That's a good plan. If you want other birds though there's a bird auction. Idaho Bird Breeder Association Auction is September 12 at noon. They have a variety of birds.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!

Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I'm relatively new to it this time around. When I was younger, I stayed at my Aunt's every summer and she had a whole farm. Seattle city girl by school year, farm girl by summer. Now I live in Spirit Lake and have 5 acres. I want my kids to have the farm to grow up on... so we're working on it.

How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Every time I look up a question on google regarding chickens, the answer is always on BYC. So I joined.

What are some of your other hobbies?

I love baking, but only when it includes WAY too much sugar. Sitting on my porch swing and looking at the property, envisioning all the things we will "eventually" get done.

Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I just had our 5 year anniversary. We have a son that is 4 and a daughter that is 2 this month. We have a black lab and a garter snake (that my son caught). Chickens: 2 Silver grey dorking/Buff silkie mixes that are 5-6 weeks old, 5 White leghorn/Delaware mixes that are 2 weeks old, and so far, 1 purebred Silver Grey Dorking. I plan on breeding Dorkings within a year or two (hopefully). Hubby required that whatever birds we get taste good. Dorkings are rare, but according to online, taste phenomenal. I've got Coloreds and Reds coming in 2 weeks.
