Hi there!

I just recently adopted 2 baby chickens at the beginning of June. This is my first time owning chickens but I have always loved them.

I adopted a Rhode Island Red, who is named Scarlett Jo-HEN-sson.
And an Australorp named Margot HEN-enbaum.

I just moved back to my hometown in Idaho after living overseas in Germany with my husband and three cats. Before that we lived in LA in a tiny apartment. Now that we live in a big house with a big yard, we are taking full advantage of it and everything we can do with it - That is why we decided chickens would be a fun new adventure.

My chickens are only about 5 weeks old but I am already head over heels in love with them and I cannot wait to see them grow older. We are currently in the process of building a chicken coop and just introduced our chickens to what grass feels like under their little feet. Let's just say its not their favorite thing at the moment.

I was so glad to find the forum and cannot wait to hear all your advice you are willing to give me!!

Welcome to BYC!!! I agree with CTKen. Read everything you can about coops and such before you build. It will keep you from making silly mistakes. (waving to you from NW Montana)
