I was ordering onion plants for my garden when I noticed a link to BYC on the side. I'm so glad I investigated! I'm jumping into raising backyard chickens this spring and this looks like a great place to find information and help. My chicks will be shipped on May 22 to arrive within a couple of days. I can't wait to get two each of Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Astralorp, and Easter Eggers. The late starting date is to allow time to build a coop and run and just get prepared for the girls arrival. Silly me! I've already named them! Next year we plan to raise some meat chickens for the freezer.
