Hi from Ireland!🇮🇪🐓🐔

Hello Laura and welcome to BYC!

They don't like to be picked up but can learn to tolerate it. As they age, they will get more calm with it. And if you ever need to do a medical check or just carry them somewhere, its good if they are used to it.

Welcome to our community!

Hi Everyone, I have found so much brilliant info on here, that I decided to join. I am living in south east Ireland and am new to keeping chickens. We have 4 laying hens, around 5months old. A light sussex, a maran, a rhodes island red cross, a Plymouth rock cross and a beautifully mannered, stunning, 1year old buff brahma rooster 🐓 We also have 2 cats and 2 dogs, all of which have been very well behaved to date. We do have a 6ft galvanised metal fence around the coop, we back onto a forest, so foxes and pine martens are a big worry! Excited to see what I can learn on here, my hens are laying the eggs are perfect but tiny! (They only arrived 4 days ago)
Welcome. Oh my, your rooster is stunning. The eggs will get bigger with time.
