Hi my name is james i have been raiseing chickens for years but now i want to go and start hatching my own. I just bought a sportsmen hatcher and incubator from a good friend of mine. Any tips on where to buy eggs that are not a barn yard mix.

Hello :frow Welcome to BYC and Happy Holidays! Good luck in your search. The BYC Buy-Sell-Trade forum has a Hatching Eggs section. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/36/chicken-hatching-eggs Maybe try posting in the VA state thread in the Where Am I Where Are You forum for local eggs. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/80/virginia If you are interested in a specific breed, you could try their threads in the Breeds, Genetics & Showing forum. There are also quite a few hatching eggs for sale on e-bay.

You need to look up egg hatching 101 this is a great place
to start but If you have never tried mail order egg's
before I am here to tell you it is a crap shoot best to get
egg's locally or from your own yard and practice first as
this can be very pricy and time consuming and a hard
way to learn about hatching now do not let me make you
disappointed about hatching it is just I have been doing
this for over 40 years now and the mail order eggs are
a 50/50 at best ...............
