Hello, I'm Tammie and I live near Ottawa KS with my husband and 4 kids. We got our first chickens May '13, and my husband built a nice coop and run for them. Our kids love them and fight over who gets to collect the eggs. Right now we have 6 hens, including a Buff Orphington, a black Sex Link, 2 Ameracaunas(a white and a black) and 2 Rhode Island reds. Named Buffy, Tiger Lily, Cocoa, Snowstorm, Meadow and Mercy. And yes, all named by my kids lol.
We've learned a lot about chickens over the past year, mostly about what not to do. We just got 4 babies, 2 Barred Rock and 2 Silver lace Wyandottes. In my spare time, I am a quilt designer, and I also love to bake and garden. I have a blog called craftytammie, where I write about making something every day! Come visit me there!

and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a colorful little flock, good luck with the new chicks. Looks like your kids did have fun naming the hens. You might like to check out the Kansas state thread for any neighbors
