I'm new to chickens, I've loved them my entire life but have only recently been able to have some of my own. I have 12, I got them at 3 days old from my local Southern States back on March 28th. We did our research, and built them an appropriately sized coop and fully enclosed run, with wire on all sides. (We have a ton of raccoons and possums here). They're almost 3 months old now, and they're happy healthy chickens and I couldn't be happier.
They were supposed to be all pullets, but we have ended up with one rooster. He's supposedly an Americauna, according to Southern States, but from what I've read he's more likely an Easter Egger. I'm not exactly sure, I'm still pretty new with chickens. He's almost 3 months old and he just started crowing two days ago. He doesn't seem very loud yet, and he doesn't crow much.
This is him. He's so freaking pretty. His original name was Anastasia, but he is now Theodore Roostevelt. (My brother came up with that awesome name).

He's super friendly for a rooster, not aggressive to people at all. He's actually my lap chicken. I put him on my lap and start petting him, and he just lays down and chills. He seems to really enjoy it. Here's some detail shots of him

I haven't been able to find any photos of roosters that have coloring like his.
I also have 3 Rhode Island Reds. Kaylee, and the other two don't have names yet.
3 Barred Rocks- Carol, Zoey, and Heather.
Another Easter Egger (who is a hen)- Lana
Two Gold laced Wyandottes- Bubbles and Mindy
And two that were called "Tetra Tinted" at SS- Henrietta and the other is not named yet.

I'm also a student at the University of Kentucky studying Equine Science and Management. My main passion in life is horses. I own 3, one of whom is a youngster that I'm training. My other major passion is photography. I primarily do equine photography, but this year I've gotten to shoot a couple weddings as well. (If anyone is interested I can give the link to my Facebook photography page. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or anything)
Sorry this got a little long, I love my chickens and get carried away talking about them. I'm looking forward to meeting new people here and learning more about chickens! Ive been reading this website and forum since I got my chickens, and you all have been incredibly helpful!
