Hi. I'm Punzie and have wanted chickens for about the past 45 years. Well, i finally got my girls last week. A Light Sussex, a Bluebell, a Black Rock and another which i havent got a clue what she is. Lovely being here with like minded folk. Hopefully i will pick up loads of good tips from you all. Xx

Great to have anther poultry lover! Congrats on your first flock.

Thanks. My ex husband was a miserable devil, and wouldnt let me have animals except one cat. One divorce and one new husband later, and we have four cats, four ferrets, a royal python, a lurcher and four chickens! Yaaaay!.... Up until a few months ago, we also had an injured crow. Extremely tame and id got him to talk. He sadly died a little while ago. Life is certainly interesting! Xx

Welcome!

Funny how divorce can sometimes be a good thing .. I remember my mother always wanting to have a cat and being a dog lover and cat hater, my father would not let her have one. They were divorced for 4 years or so before she finally realised ‘Oh, hang on, I can have a cat now!’

Sorry to hear about your Crow.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. Really enjoyed your introduction, you have quite a flair for writing. Sorry about your crow. I have read they are the smartest bird, in terms of problem solving, using implements to achieve their goals, etc. I have heard they can be taught to talk. Have one question "what is a "lurcher?"

Hi Punzie, I'm glad things are better for you and you can have all sorts of animals now. Animals definitely enrich our lives.

Best of luck to you with the chickens!
