Hello everyone. I'm from southwestern Manitoba, not far from Russell. (Just in case someone needs an extra rooster. 😂 )

I've had chickens of all ages, shapes, and sizes off and on for over 25 years. I was without chickens for a few years, since my husband's favorite cat made chicken owning too frustrating. Then something happened last fall and suddenly I had seven hens and three roosters. You know how chicken math works though, and now there are 29 five week old "teenagers" in my one coop, and another nine, two week old chicks sitting here behind me.

Two of the older hens died, and I gave away one rooster. Now I have three Berg's Browns (I think), and four Orpingtons (two roosters, two hens). I have a few chicks from the Orpingtons, three Americauna cross, and a whole mess of random BYM (I think from an Australorp roo). At some point I might end up with Cochins, Silkies, and possibly some Polish. I do have a weakness for Cochins and Silkies.

Over the years I've raised meat chickens, laying hens, "patting" chickens, and have at times hatched out WAY too many. The day I learn to be a good carpenter, my husband might need to be a little worried.

Nice to join a group of fellow chicken people. There's always more to learn.
