New to the forum! We just took delivery of our new additions on Wed of this week, 10 very good looking Red Flag or what the feed store called Red Sex Link laying hens. The girls all seem healthy and happy, 20 weeks old and a good size, I think I will have to rethink my nesting boxes. I had used milk crates on there sides with 2 gallon pails inserted and the lids cut down to cover about 1/3 of the opening also on its side to make a nest. They look like a tight fit so I think I had better build something bigger.
The chickens add to our mini farm, 4 cats, 2 Collies, 1 love bird and 2 ferrets and now 10 chickens. Looking forward to the eggs haven't had farm fresh since growing up on the farm 40 years ago. don't remember a lot but I do remember them being much smaller for sure. I'm hoping for eggs within the next week or so but that may be a little soon, don't know.
Lots of info on the form/site and will keep reading!

Welcome From SW Ontario! Why not just set the milk crates right side up on the floor? YOu should only need 2 for that number of birds. Just stuff them full of hay. And let them have at it. Cn't beat farm fresh eggs.!
