Hi everyone!

My name is Alli, I’m from a rural town 45 minutes from Boston. My family immigrated here from Italy in the late 1800’s and became animal farmers. I grew up helping my grandmother raise her chickens, but a few years ago she finally retired from being a chicken mom. Since we (my boyfriend, my father, and I) love chickens we decided to raise our own.

We started off with 6 last year and built a massive coop/run to eventually fit more (I call it Fort Knox :p). The breeds we started with are one of each of these: Black Sexlink, Welsummer, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, and Salmon Faverolle. Now we have a total of 15 chickens and have added these 8 breeds to the flock: Ayam Cemani, Blue Plymouth Rock, Chocolate Cuckoo Orpington, Cream Legbar, Easter Egger, Light Brahma, New Hampshire Red, and Red Cuckoo Orpington.

I love the fulfillment I get from taking care of animals, and I hope to soon add more kinds to our little farm. Next year we’re planning on getting Nigerian Dwarf Goats and I really want pigs! The other animals we have right now are Koi Fish in a man made pond out back, a rabbit (indoors!!! No hutch) and a Boxer. In our home we’ve had endless different animals like Leopard Geckos, African Water Frogs, a huge saltwater aquarium, a Canary, Finches, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, and many dogs and cats.

Above are the new kids on the block. They’re 4 weeks old. We have some names picked out but they aren’t set in stone.
