HI everyone!
We live in Mass and are new to chickens! Just got ours about 2 months (?) ago...day olds, so they are starting to get big.
I've always wanted chickens and finally, we have some room!
So, I went ahead and ordered some "hens"; 5 Barred Rocks, 5 Buff Orps (although one is definitely a Buff Rock or from BR stock, and another is looking like a cockerel), 5 Speckled Sussex, and a Cochin Roo.
I'm usually busy around the house and the yard so getting online is rare. But I do like to check out BYC when I do, especially when I have a question. And I have LOTS.
I started reading the forums here several months back when I knew we were moving and I was researching breeds. The 'net' always brought me here, and everyone seems nice and informative. Lots of funny posts too! The site also appears to be well moderated, so that's a plus for me.
As for other family members; We have 2 big Mutts, a good mouser, and are expecting a few ducks in the fall. *Looks like I might be able to get some good info here on ducks as well!*
