We currently live in so AA county, but hoping to hear (maybe even today!) if the bank will take our counter-counter-counter offer on a place in Mt. Airy. It's 7 acres, enough for our horses, and allow for some chickens and goats, all critters I have fond memories of from my own childhood. Not interested in ducks and geese, and I remember cattle as just being work.

I'm finding I'm really attracted to the heritage breeds, like Dorkings, Dominicas and Swedish Flowers. They have to be good natured with four boys 7 and under running around! I'm looking at bators and brooders, while hubby is rolling his eyes.

Good luck with the farmette in Mt. Airy. We live in Carroll County - if you move let us know and we can tell you of a few good local places to visit.
