G'day Everyone,

My family has just caught the new chicken bug. We have just bought are first chooks. 3 Belgium D'uccles and we are all very excited. They are at point of lay however as its winter now we don't expect any eggs for awhile. Looking forward to all the hints and tips of to raising our chooks.

Hello and Welcome! Please check out the Learning Center if you haven't yet. Also there is an Aussie thread somewhere I just can't point you to it. I am in Ohio back in the woods with a mixed flock. Wish you the best of luck with your chooks!!:)
 
The aussie thread is "Australia - six states and one funny little island." We have a large Aussie community - the more, the merrier. I'm not certain how the chickens respond down under but, I think pullets laying for the first time - will do so whether it is winter or summer. Their second year the seasons make a difference to the laying schedule.

Hope you get some eggs but, not frozen ones.
