I'm new to the forum, and to raising chickens. I have always loved chickens ever since I was a little girl - my bedroom had chicken wallpaper! We just bought a house in the country with 11 acres (mostly wooded) and no zoning - which means I can finally have chickens!
I built a coop by myself, no help from the husband, and just put my twelve teenager chickens in it. I have 6 ISA brown pullets and 6 Araucanas (straight run.) I would like to get a few dozen more, probably rare breeds, but don't have the time or room for them right now. I would like to eventually breed and show rare birds.
As you can see from my username, I have 5 kids, ages 8, 5, 2, 1, and 5 months. I'm a hippie momma and not ashamed! We're also practicing Buddhists.
