Hi. I have family who use this site and recommended it as a good place to find lots of chicken information, so I thought I'd join. I live near Salem, MO with some chickens for eggs and tick control. I've been thinking about getting a few turkeys, but I don't know much about them and will need to do a lot of research first.

Hi, thanks! I mostly have barnyard mutts that lay various shades of green eggs. I hear Cackle hatchery sends out a chick truck that makes a stop in the MFA here one day a year, so I may pick up some new breeds from them this year.

Hi, thanks, I will have to look into that. I have friends who keep chickens and turkeys and I thought I might try raising my own Thanksgiving meal this year, but if that's a bad idea it's a good thing to know.
