I live in the country near Montreal Quebec, Canada. I have 40 chicken from white / blue silkies, brahma, cochin, polish, marans, ameraucana, 3 goats, 10 rabbits, 2 dogs and 2 kids who love playing with the little chicks. My coop is an old little barn that we modified for the chicken. This year I went a bit overboard, finally found my silkies and cochins. Just waiting to see how many will be roaters and hens. Hopefully one of each. I found this site a while back when I was looking for ideas to improve my coop. It is nice to see others who have the same passion.

Can silkies be mixed with the larger breeds? I recentle bought a pair of white silkies and am concerned they will be to stressed out with the larger breeds.

O yes silkies can be mixed with standard breeds...

I had 5 silkies all chillin with standard breeds and giant breeds... they are quick lil guys they tend to get out of the way fast .. my hen "Momma" even puts the bigger girls in their place when it comes tot he treat bowl..

Mine are separed for now because they are only 4 weeks old and my rooster is a pretty big fellow.
I don't want him to hurt them.
