(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We just started raising chickens in June 2012. We have Rhode Island reds, a speckled sussex and a buff orphington. We also have 14 red broilers.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 26
(3) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?When we were searching for information on raising chickens, This web site was extremely helpful. I just quit smoking and needed something to take its place and decided to raise chickens. Lots of work though.
(4) What are some of your other hobbies? Hunting, fishing and rabbits. Into a lot of farm improvement projects and home repair and construction.
(5) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My wife and I are retired. We have 2 Sons. One lives next to us and one is down the road about 4 miles. We have 4 grandkids and one on the way in January2012. We have a beagle named Snickers and a cat named Kieth. We are raising New Zealand and Flemish giants x with California rabbits. We believe our food sources are better if we raise it ourselves. I like to hunt for deer and turkeys. I can't do that much anymore due to my hobby farm. We are quite avid church goers and like to have Christ shine in everything we do or say. We believe Jesus is coming soon and all the things that are happening to America is because we have turned our hearts and minds away from Him. America needs to repent and let God's favor be on us again.
