Well for starters I’m new here. Hello!
My family and I have the usual cat and dogs and then dove into exotic pets like reptiles to add to our family…. At some point if expanded to wanting to add livestock to our lives. So we started diving into the life of backyard farming.
We have a flock of chickens that we started and would love to know more about that, as well as other backyard animals and farming plants etc…. We would love to add some goats… preferably Pygmy Goats and pigs and who knows… whatever we can legally have and have enough space to have where we are currently at which is Omaha NE. So I decided to get setup on here to join fellow/ more experienced backyard farmers and animal keepers to learn more and possibly add to our backyard livestock and of course make friends

My best advice, Morgan, is to make ABSOLUTELY sure that wherever you are, it's legal to have miniature goats. I had four in my backyard for four years. I checked with the city attorney who said my goats were legal. not considered livestock.

Some Realtor, who wanted to make a sale in my neighborhood, where the goats were frequently visited by treat-bearing neighbors, discovered that city ordinance forbid my from having them within 200 feet of any "existing or POTENTIALLY existing building." The property owner next door had no intention of building anything, and still hasn't 14 years later. But, I got 14 days to remove my pets.

Happy ending: a friend kept my goats while I looked for a property in the country. My goats lived out their natural lives with me. Now, I have goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, dogs and cats. And no one can tell me what else I can or cannot have.

Welcome to BYC -- where many folks will be happy to help you with whatever critters and challenges you encounter.
