Just got 9 new hens, one year olds. 5 Road Island Reds and 4 golden sexlinks. Trying to mix with 10 banty and one banty rooster. The rooster is fighting mad and because he is little he is being out done and bloodied. Had to seperate the two groups with chicken wire and also seperated in the coop by chicken wire. This is the second day now. I will continue this for a couple weeks. Hopefully the rooster will stop fighting the bigger new hens. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Mike

Hello from GA!

The banty rooster is just a little protector and fighter....won't back down.....I am afraid I will find him dead unless I seperate them for a while and let them get used to each other......hum.....

You didn't Quarentine them?
I usually Quarentine for 30 days before trying to introduce them. Then I coop them in side by side areas to get used to each other for a week or so, then I place them together late at night in a semi dark coop. In the morning there is very little squabbling.

I hope it all works out for him. Just keep an eye on them to make sure it doesn't go to far. Best of luck.
