Hello, I have been lurking at this forum for a couple of weeks. Got my pullets (2 RI Reds and 1 Aracauna) a couple of months back. We were in the process of moving into an older house (my folks house which we remodeled), and I knew I wanted hens. I have had them before, and wanted them again. I bought them from a breeder here, and asked her to hold them as I was not yet ready to bring them home as we were in the middle of the remodel and I had no place to build a coop. Small house, small yard. Finally got things done and when I called her she said I needed to get them soon as she was moving. I hurriedly cobbled together a run out of t-posts and chicken wire, tin for partial roof (had purchased a coop from Hayneedle) in 2 days, and went and got the girls. It certainly is third worldly, especially compared to the coops on the coop thread, but for the time being they seem happy. One pullet has been laying about 3 weeks, even gave us a double yoker and hasn't missed a day, the second red started yesterday, but none today from her. The aracauna whom I keep telling to lay blue eggs, has yet to start. Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed this forum and decided to join.
