Hi, im Mechelle from Elverta, small rural community just north of the state capital, Sacramento. I have a small farm of horses,goats, hounds and of coarse Chickens!
I have about 35 free ranch chickens including 5 roosters. Most of my birds are rescues from my local shelter. But some have been hand raised by myself and my now grown kids.
We have been raising small flocks since Always. I was in poultry project in 4-H many moons ago. And have never stopped loving having chickens.
Because most of my birds came from the shelter I have a lot of mixed breeds. Most of them are a rhode Island leghorn cross. But I also have rhode island purebreds, a couple americanas(my favorite breed) and a few unknowns. Most of my chickens are friendly to the point of being obnoxious.
I love my flock and look forward to conversing with other chicken folks.
