thanks for the information. I live in northeast ohio. winters can get pretty cold. my coop is a 12x10 attached to a 5x8. about 6 foot tall. wasn't sure what size to build so I guessed. got the 5x8 for free with 3 laying chickens and just built the 10x12 coop
