I am hoping to build a chicken coop and start getting fresh eggs for my family and I. I'm not sure how to get started and I was hoping I could learn some things from this site. My parents want to put up a coop too. We need to learn more about chickens in general before we can get started.

! You have come to the right place. There are coops of every shape, size and configuration imaginable in BYC! You can use old material and re-purpose them into a fine coop! Check out the following links - and have fun in the process. The journey...doing research, building our coop, preparation, can be as fun as the destination...the day you get your chickens! One bit of advice: think security against predators!
