I realized I posted first without an introduction, sorry!
I don't have any companion chickens, but I do work for a sanctuary for farmed animals located in northern California called Animal Place. I get my chicken fix through the flock at the sanctuary and hope to have my own rescued flock someday.
We have about 100 hens and 15 roosters at the sanctuary. A variety of different breeds inhabit the habitat, though we specialize in the rescue of "spent" egg-laying hens and production chickens (broilers) and turkeys.
You can see some of the animals, including the birds, at the sanctuary at my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rinalia/sets/72157606450726654/
Hope to get to know everyone better.
