Hi all,

My name is Ben, I am from Perth Western Australia and come to learn and share, after all, nearly everything I have learned on line so far has come from here. Time to give back a little.

Just starting my first thread on this forum. I will follow the template and then give a brief intro. I have much to share and will go find the place to share it after this post!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yep, pretty new. Only about 6 months really. It has been an experience that's for sure.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently, we have 6.......but that number may not stay as we have a sick little Silver Laced Wynadotte at the moment.

(3) What breeds do you have?
As of today we have;
3x mature (approx 2 years) old Isa Browns, rescue birds. One currently laying. (Noodles, Rhonda and Olivia)
1x Caramel Rhode Island Red x Blue Austrolorp (Latte')
1x Silver laced Wynadotte (Pepper)
1x Golden laced Wynadotte (Mocha)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google knows all.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a 'car guy' but have taken to a few green type hobbies in our yard, worm farm, veggie garden, herbs, lawn care and of course our chooka's.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of 4, two little boys (4,6) and my wife Alicia. We also have an extremely masculine dog, called Flynn, he is a Pomeranian, and is easily confused for and Isa Brown.
I own my own small business that produces portable waste recycling/volume reduction plants aimed at defense and mining industries.

Welcome to BYC. The people here are super nice and very helpful. I've learned a lot since joining.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome.

The people seem very nice. I am just preparing a bit of a blog of our adventure so far, uploading pics. Should be up in a little while.

Hi Ben!

We just moved from Perth to Balingup and got a small flock of our own about..2 months ago! So far the chickens are a super rewarding experience but my co workers have dubbed me the crazy chicken lady, oh well! Hope your little wyandotte will recover, maybe try some garlic in her diet, that seems to perk mine up a bit.

Enjoy your stay at BYC!

Hahahaha, my friends have also said I talk about not much else other than my green projects, especially the chooks.

I'm a car type car, and a mechanic by trade, so most of my mates/friends don't really get the hole, 'grow your own' attitude.

Can anyone please tell me how many posts are required before the forum will allow image embedding?
