Hi there my name is Paula. I am married and have a 20 yo daughter. I have three cats, two dogs and three finches. I am currently a homemaker (was a dog groomer).
We bought a city repo, have started rehabing it (new electric and plumbing) soon new bathroom and kitchen. Wanted to see if you really can have a house for under 10K, it is true.
Now we want to see how much of your own food you can grow in a city lot. Planning to build a two tiered coop for bantam and quail, Top bar Beehives and several 4x4 planting beds. My friends say I should track it and write a book
I really like this site, so much information, very helpful people and very well managed. I am so happy this exists
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Family has had chickens, but I as an adult, I have yet to own chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I am chickenless, anyone want to help a poor chickenless girl out?
(3) What breeds do you have? I live in the city of Pittsburgh, so I am thinking about a few small quiet Bantam hens and maybe a few Quail. Anyone have any suggestions on breeds? I am hoping to find a local person to buy chicks/eggs from.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? My brother has chickens and loves this website
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Knitting, watercolors, cooking, square foot gardening.
Thank you all!
Paula
