Thanks for the warm welcome everyone 
I guess I could have posted a little more about myself. I am 29, I work as a fisheries scientist and I am married to a lobsterman! We have 2 cats, 4 chicks, and a little over 2 acres of land. Chickens are my first venture but I hope to start composting this year as well...and if I can find some time to start a garden and make some rain barrels I would like to do that too. I am already obsessed with my chickens and we are looking forward to the fresh eggs! Thanks for the hello's and all of the help so far! Next thing on the agenda is the coop! We are building a modified version of the purina mills coop and adding on a run. I will be sure to post about that too...
