Hi friends! I moved from Denver to Sonoma County a little over a month ago and am fortunate enough to have a little over an acre of land. The new (to me) house came with a chicken coop so I've known for a few months that I wanted to get chickens. That time has come. :) I've been reading through BYC threads for months but decided to join today and make it official.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yep, brand new to chickens. I got my chickens on April 21st and April 28th. I researched the breeds that I wanted and the supply store had them available on different weekends.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Seven. I only wanted to start with 5 but I've read about chicken math and now I finally get it.

(3) What breeds do you have?
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte named Dani - born April 25th
2 Buff Orpingtons named Roberta and Ava - born April 25th
2 Cuckoo Marans named Mitchie and Dean- born April 19th
2 Ameraucanas named Vonita and Rosie- borns April 19th

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Probably the same way 99% of people find out about it. I did a Google search with a question about chickens and was directed to the forums.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening (the new house also came with 19 raised and in-ground beds), road and mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, downhill skiing, cooking, photography, concerts, home improvements (is that considered a hobby since I enjoy it??). Just to name a few.

I have a lot to learn so I'm looking forward to spending some time here.

Here's my 2 y.o. rescue mutt, Revi with Ava, a 3 day old BO.
