Hi there!!

I'm new here, you guys can call me Silv if you like! I'm in, as the title says, the southeastern part of NC! And I'm going to start my chicken journey if not this year, next year!

I want to make a happy little coop of like 3-4 hens for eggies for my family, and I hope to learn much here! What I'm looking for is how best to build a good coop for the oppressive and icky NC summers. I know -I- don't enjoy 100 degrees with 80-90% humidity so I doubt a chimken would, so I'm trying to get all my chickens in a row and have a good home prepared before I figure out what chickens to *get*.

Thank you for reading this and I hope we all get along!!

Congrats on doing your "homework" before you get your flock. I have to admit, I did things the other way around.

One piece of advice you will see repeatedly is to build a coop for more than the number of chickens you think you want or will get. I fell victim to "chicken math" immediately and brought home four when I only meant to get three. That was many, many chickens and several coops ago.

Welcome to BYC, Silv; folks here will be happy to help you in any way we can! And, let us know when your first chickens arrive.

Hi! Nice to meet you.
