We have a small organical principalled farm where we raise and sell chickens, bunnies, milk goats, turkeys, guinea, geese and ducks, guineas, pigs and more. I know you will enjoy your time here and learn much and meet new friends.

His roosters must be on sedatives I've never seen roosters that don't fight.

4 year old chickens can be very expensive in feed and low productive in the egg department.

I would probably back away from this deal or offer much much much less to the seller because of the age of the chickens and you have no way of knowing about their health either....At their age, in our state you could go and get those same birds at probably 4 or 5 dollars as old birds. So, unless you wanted productivity of probably less than half what you'd get with younger birds, I'd suggest a rething or a counterproposal.

I agree, their production will definitely drop. Guess it depends on whether you are looking for eggs or pets. That's also a lot of chickens to jump in.

So I rechecked zoning laws and I can only have 5 max + 1 male. So I'd have to split up the flock anyways. Still think it might be a good deal depending on the coop, etc, that come with them. I'd also have to convince her to let me split it up...

If the coop and the other supplies he said would go with them are worth the money, you can always get rid of the chickens later, but then that might not be worth the hassle trying to find someone else to take the flock. For $350 you could build yourself a nice coop. Good luck with your decision.
