I joined last year and then got busy with running my fiber farm and never introduced myself. We got 6 Americunas from our local feed store, then later got 10 Barred Rock hens and 2 double breasted bronze turkeys from another one. Then this fall I ordered 10 mixed silkies from Ideal Poultry and got 11 Black Sex-Link roosters in with them for "warmth".
We lost part of the Americunas and ALL of the Barred Rocks to my two LDGs, they got loose from my son and got into the chicken pen.
We still have three of the Americnas and they have been laying all winter for us. My son has named them, as they are his pets.
The silkies are mine, as I love the way they look.
The roosters and 2 turkeys will be butchered soon, so that we can have fresh chicken and turkey for the freezer.
Besides the poultry, we have 3 Shetland sheep, 8 angora goats, 3 Nigora goats, 4 Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats, 1 mini-Nubian dairy goat, 4 English Angora rabbits, 1 German angora rabbit, 4 English/German angora rabbits, 2 Jersey Wooly rabbits. The main purpose of the farm is fiber, so we have LOTS of fiber producing animals.
